What's your reaction?


How many of you have seen this movie in Tamil called 12 B? This movie had an interesting concept of two different ways a situation can evolve? Not always we have the luxury of deciding the outcome but more than once , you can control at least your reaction to the outcome. Sounds like too much gyaan? Here is a simple situation that I faced recently and my reaction to the same.

Disclaimer 1: I realized that I had worked on this draft BC ( Before Corona) .It was just interesting to edit , remind myself and post. 

I utilize all modes of transport to get back from work. Uber/ola/auto/metro. You name it, I will have the app downloaded and ready to book. Unfortunately not all of these are fool proof and there are certain days when booking a cab is a test of patience. I recently had this experience where multiple cabs were cancelled and finally when I thought this is the one, that cab booked miraculously disappeared from the screen.Just this one time (as you can see am gloating about it), I decided to read my book while waiting for the cab instead of fretting and fuming . The 10 mins delay at peak traffic wasn't that bad and I came home a much happier person. In fact I started writing this blog on the way back.

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus

    In today's world t his almost seems outdated and binary in its approach now. We cannot stereotype Mars or Venus either. Though this caption caught my attention for an entire different reason. In our strength training plan there are heavy days, medium days and light days . The weight choices you chose with the rep range defines these. So there are days you are asked to work with your maximum weight, days when you go one level lighter and days when it is just possibly bare minimum. I am writing this from a personal experience and please do not blame me for stereotyping. There are exceptions to every rule and you can be a women from mars or a man from Venus or you don't even need a planet. You get the drift.  This pattern I am describing below, has been almost consistent . Simple training plan of t ake your max weight/one less and grind and do reps. The curious case of the NECTAR

Confused with the title? Let me take a step back and narrate a story which is familiar to most of us.    The Devas formed an alliance with the Asuras to jointly churn the ocean for the  nectar of immortality  and to share it among themselves.   Now in the modern hiring scenario substitute nectar with candidates who the prospective organizations want and the current employers want to retain. I am not calling out who is the deva and the asura here as its purely relative 😊 The only difference is there isn’t an alliance between the two, but in retrospect this can prove to be useful in getting this nectar faster.  This  elusive candidate or nectar is  being searched by prospective employers and on the other hand being retained by the current employer.
