UnLock or Lockdown? What's on your mind?
Till about March if someone asked me " What's your plan?" My answer probably would have
been" I think having no plan is a good plan. Just wanna be and chill. Too many things happening right now and getting out again seems overrated". Then life as we know changed. Heading out for a coffee admist daily work is a luxury you can't afford. Grocery shopping is carefully planned and meeting people seemed a distant dream. While this happened, and google reminded you of previous trips and outings you couldn't help but wonder when things will go back to being normal. Whatever this normal will be. That's the beauty of conditioning your mind over something for months. There are infinite theories on what's the norm during these times and what is the standard protocol to follow.
If there is one thing I am still learning after talking to a lot of my friends and family it is there is absolutely no right and wrong in this. Now before you all jump at me for saying this imagine the below scenarios( all fictional). Of course the commanality is that most of the above examples quoted are from a previleged viewpoint.
Your grandma wants to go to the temple. She feels that's her normal and obviously wearing the mask and maybe using the vibhuthi dispenser
A friend wants to visit a coffee shop and enjoy the cake with his cuppa! Again all protocols followed
A special occassion comes up. There is a plan to visit that special restaurant that everyone in the family loves
Your neighbor's kids are so bored of indoor play that they want to visit the park and spend sometime outdoors
There is your cousin who is just bored of running at home decides to get to the beach for the morning run
Oh my, did someone say bars are open? You hear your work collegues planning an outing there?
Parents who want to visit their children abroad or vice versa. Yet again be in vande Bharat or other options the flights are booked
He needs to visit the mall store to pick up gifts for his friend's birthday. He doesn't like online shopping and thinks that he can visit the mall finally.
Your cousins kids who have started going for dance or cricket sessions in person.
Getting to work everyday is a must as your job isn't condusive to work from home.
Of course there are a majority of people who avoid all of the above and are probably ready to meet people only on zoom calls.
For each person who is making the above choice ( either all or none of the above) there is a logic that preceeds it with scientific theories backing it up. Each person's choice is based a lot on what gives them peace of mind along with sensible logic that still keeps them sane. I am highly convinced that this year its a lot about how strong you are mentally than anything else. You do what is right for you and it is just that at the end of the day. Looking at another person's choice and making a judgement call is maybe irrelevant in today's times. The norms of masks, washing hands, sanitizing seems a practical to do list that's a good habit to have irrespective of the pandemic.
It maybe you on those crossroads next to make a life altering decision of whether you need the run or the coffee? So let it be.
Oh! How can I forget! Stay Sane folks!
