BE POSITIVE

Isn’t this the most heard phrase across all of 2020 and now? Since the pandemic set in, our most often used terms are Be Positive and Stay safe. Though soon this morphed into are you positive?  This is about actually being positive for the Covid 19 test. One of those few results where you want to see negative but the bold red positive throws you off balance. I remember refreshing the page and checking the results knowing 100 percent it will be positive. Not to mention you would have already isolated /self quarantined with any little symptoms so the test is still a formality to confirm your doubts.

Of course if you are a part of a nuclear family you need to ensure you all are tested just to rule out possibilities. In our case my husband and I tested positive and the rest of the household din’t. There is always a silver lining. This blog is to capture random musings and thoughts that kept us going for 14 days. I promise to keep it on the lighter side..

1. One of the most often asked questions is Do you know how you got it?

Really if we all had this answer we will be in a better space. After a year of hearing about this I think this is a redundant question. And neither did we intentionally try and meet people to pass it along. That’s the last thing anyone will want to do.

2.The biggest surprise for us was the corporation workers. Extremely courteous they called us to check if we needed anything/and if we are covered.

This is a boon when you are lost or looking for some support. We have a solid support system but its heartening to hear it from others

3. The CT scan is a good step to follow as you don’t know when the this breathlessness with catch up with you.

This sure did save us a lot of trouble and got immediate attention for one of us in terms of medication. Do not take this lightly, we almost would have but came to our senses and when in slightest doubt get it checked. Get it off your chest literally!

4. Kids are in general resilient and this just proves it even more.

My daughter's are 9 and 12 and they quietly moved out of the house/ packed took devices to stay at their grandparents and attend their online school and classes. We were in touch with video calls and not once they cribbed or said anything. Of course they have a massive support system with grandparents, aunts who pamper them endless but no cribbing. This was my biggest learning give them more credit. Total Rockstars.

5. Busy mind is a gift during quarrantine.

If you have the energy to work please do. I believe in this totally and dint stop working. Longer hours but most productive. This is where WFH was a boon. Oh later we both learnt how to take calls from the same room in a civilized manner . Listen to your body though and stop if you are tired.

6.Carbs are BAE

I have seen people write this but never put my head around it. A good bowl of moms rasam rice is all you need.

7.Swiggy and Dunzo

I never doubted their usefulness but clearly from masala chai to garlic bread your cravings are answered . Also our thoughtful family and friends could send us stuff through Dunzo. There is a little bit of planning required but they are the invisible force behind helping you through this.

8. Internet of things

Music, Movies at your fingertips to help unwind. Nothing like this after a long day but hey remember to choose what to watch in your head. Revisited some classics that never disappoint and cuckoo cuckoo is still ringing in my head

9. Friends who are family and Family who are friends

Most grateful for this group who unconditionally help you in different ways. Not that we weren't grateful but reminders are nice:)

10. Room service pampering

I don't remember the last time we had room service at our door.  Different menu planned by mom and mil for lunch and dinner. This I could get used to but well it's over now.

11. Watching workout PRs on social media

It's funny how relativity sets in and just barely carrying about daily routines seems good enough. Definitely missed training especially since we both were on a routine but hey will not beat myself to that. There's always the next month

12. Not all Mohanlal movies are awesome

Tried big brother and well I can safely say one of the worst malyalam Mohanlal movies. Never thought that will be something I will ever say! Damn

13. One step at a time ...

This was such a famous hymn during my school days and never felt a deeper connect. One day at a time to get through uneventfully

14. Enjoy the break

Yes your health is not great and you will recover( in most cases at a faster rate than what is expected) but it's better you learn to enjoy it than fight it. Being Positive isn't overrated.

On that note 14 days +++ flew by and stronger bonds were established. Of course we are heading about next lockdown and new wave and what not. But hey! Be Positive:)

  8. Beautifully expressed...everyone could connect with all that is written with a touch of humour. If the result is positive how one can be very positive is well brought out! Blessed are those who all have such families who are friends & friends who are families. In such an environment children would automatically be rock stars. More ink and flow to your pen.
