Celebrate the "PENN" in you!

Working mom's. 4 more shots. Few more women oriented drama's streaming on Netflix and prime. While it supposedly captures the conflicts of a modern day woman , some of the scenes are cringe-worthy.  This got me thinking on PENN a series aired on doordarshan ages ago. Think it was a 8 part mini series with actresses from mainstream cinema directed by Suhasini. The first episode is still so fresh in my mind. The mother daughter duo constantly bickering till her marriage and she leaves home. Touching scene that's still etched in my mind.  Have you seen it? It's a mini-series with each episode dealing with one phase of a women's life. Powerful and poignant I am so keen to unearth and watch this series again. I am sure it will resonate with me a lot more now. And I just did a quick search on social media and found the link on YouTube and here it goes

Do yourself a favor and watch it. If I can recollect it with so much clarity after many many years it's truly a powerful serial. Another favorite was the episode with Shobana as the arranged marriage dilemma unfolds. Amala as a doctor and the "aloo curry" eposide! Men in these series were a lot normal and the women even more real. No melodrama, stereotypes or any of the over exaggerated family sentiments. Real women and real situations and  I just loved writing about it as it brought a smile to my face just trying to recollect this series.

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus

    In today's world t his almost seems outdated and binary in its approach now. We cannot stereotype Mars or Venus either. Though this caption caught my attention for an entire different reason. In our strength training plan there are heavy days, medium days and light days . The weight choices you chose with the rep range defines these. So there are days you are asked to work with your maximum weight, days when you go one level lighter and days when it is just possibly bare minimum. I am writing this from a personal experience and please do not blame me for stereotyping. There are exceptions to every rule and you can be a women from mars or a man from Venus or you don't even need a planet. Confused with the title? Let me take a step back and narrate a story which is familiar to most of us.    The Devas formed an alliance with the Asuras to jointly churn the ocean for the  nectar of immortality  and to share it among themselves.   Now in the modern hiring scenario substitute nectar with candidates who the prospective organizations want and the current employers want to retain. I am not calling out who is the deva and the asura here as its purely relative 😊 The only difference is there isn’t an alliance between the two, but in retrospect this can prove to be useful in getting this nectar faster.  This  elusive candidate or nectar is  being searched by prospective employers and on the other hand being retained by the current employer.
