Short Drive Anyone?
How many of you have been in the exact same or worse situation?
Hot Sunday Morning and you drag yourself to the car to pick up groceries from a nearby store. Take the car out and BOOM! A big black trash bag is hurled across by your neighbor to hit the garbage bins and they just miss your windshield. You try hard to stay cool and lower your window to request the hurler to be a little more mindful. Before you can open your mouth, you hear a high pitched monologue on how the bin has moved and the person driving the car needs to be wary of the road. Sure yes, flying garbage bags is the next thing to avoid on the roads.
Just keep driving and in the next 300 meters you see a car coming towards you on the wrong side of the road. You slam the brakes to avoid a collision. The excuse you hear now is" Its Sunday, there is no one-way, you need to be careful". Really? After hearing the 9-5 rule for one way roads , this is definitely another feather in the cap.
A little annoyed as you can't teach common sense you drive on. Another 300 meters and you hit the traffic lights. Its a CLEAR RED so you need to stop. Are you wondering, what a clear red is? The lights may/may not work but we have all learnt or taught our kids the Red Amber Green definitions. Even if its an Amber I can understand ( you see how you adapt) but its a red and someone almost scratches the bumper of your car . Of course its your fault to stop when its a red in the traffic lights. Thankfully it was just a close call and you drive when its a CLEAR GREEN to yet again see a two wheeler on the wrong side.
SIGH! Aren't you tired even reading this?
A short drive of probably 900 meters and encountered so many deviations. You are cautious when you drive in the right side of the road and stop at red lights. The wrong has become right with absolutely no remorse and there is no end to this. This isn't even exaggeration. Those who know me probably even visualized the roads I am talking about. Why is is difficult to wait that extra 30-60 seconds at a signal or a slight detour to avoid driving in the one-way? When you hear accident statistics, I can only say its a miracle its staying at that low number. I only dread to see where this will go in summer when the heat catches up too. The solution is staring into our faces open mouthed. Oh! I get asked if I like driving? Sure I like adventures too.
